Chinook
Artist: Helen Gauvin
This painting depicts an inviting view of the Chinook Parkway in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The scene showcases an area in the Northwest section of the city, set on a bright calm day in September.
The walkway in the centre of the picture is edged by a domestic floral bed and grasses, leading the eye of the viewer to focus towards the Swift Current Creek. In the mid-ground you will see a grove of trees which follow the Swift Current Creek to the 13th Avenue Bridge. Beyond the 13th Avenue Bridge, the grassy hills on the edge of the Elmwood Golf Course leads the viewer to the residential area of Hillcrest Drive.
The painting invites the viewer into a natural adventure. One has to be curious enough to wonder where the pathway leads? How will nature entertain the eye of the viewer? Imagine the sound of the rippling creek and the gentle breezes flowing through the trees, fresh air and sunshine. It looks like a great day for experiencing the outdoors in the City of Swift Current.
I hope you enjoy my impression of the Chinook Parkway.
